I created the skirt from cotton muslin. When I am working on a pattern I usually use muslin to check the pattern. There is so much fabric left, that I try to reuse and repurpose. This time I created a skirt which I embellished with patches and old buttons. I am learning how to use the free motion sewing, which I have a looooong way to go with mastering it.
The Camisole is a stretch silk and is also patchworked, then embellished with Mother of pearl buttons. I then dipped the top in coffee to darken and give it more texture.
The belt is a ribbon embellished with old buttons.
Back in the day we called them Hot Pants. Then some called them Daisy Dukes. Now I guess they are short shorts, but if there is another name let me know.
This is a subtle use of the colors Red, Black, and Green. The Silk Habotai gown is patchworked and tie dyed with stitching and the halter top is reversible. At the ends of the ties I beaded with red and green glass beads.
I posted this little video on my Instagram and sold the 2 African print Skirts and 2 bra tops. One you see it I say make the inquiry, appointment, and buy it.
I love mixing and matching patterns, colors, prints, it is a new way of looking at fabric. Here is a good example of the fabrics not being related, but looking as if they are.
